MPI has partnered with this emerging mid-tier gold producer, and we are now looking for a Principal Mining Engineer to provide strategic direction and mine studies across multiple gold mining projects, both open pit and underground. Reporting directly to the executive team, you will play a pivotal role in the development of mine studies and project prioritisation to ensure the optimum long-term growth and development of the company.

The role:

Lead the development and optimization of mining plans and schedules to maximize ore recovery and profitability across multiple sites
Provide expert technical support to site teams, ensuring alignment with corporate objectives
Develop and implement best practices in mine design, production planning, and cost management
Drive innovation and continuous improvement initiatives in project studies, with the view to maximising the overall financial performance of the business
Collaborate with geology, processing, and corporate teams to ensure integrated planning.

The requirements:

Bachelor’s degree in Mining Engineering or a related discipline
Minimum of 10 years of experience in the mining industry, with at least 5 years in a leadership role
Proven experience in gold mining operations, ideally in both open-pit and underground operations
Comprehensive understanding of mine planning software and other industry tools
Strong knowledge of Western Australian mining regulations and standards
Exceptional leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills
