Andean Silver is a leading mineral exploration company committed to the discovery and development of precious metal projects across South America, with a particular emphasis on Chile. Specialising in silver and gold, their flagship Cerro Bayo Silver-Gold project in the Aysen region of Southern Chile currently hosts Indicated and Inferred Mineral Resources of 8.2Mt at a grade of 342g/t for 91Moz of contained Ag Eq. With three diamond drill rigs on-site, and continuous exploration success over the last 2 years, the company is poised to develop a world class project.
The Role:
On behalf of our client MPI are seeking a highly skilled Senior Exploration Geologist. Reporting directly to the Exploration Manager, with a dotted line responsibility to the Principal Resource Geologist, you will primarily focus on near-mine exploration for brownfield targets and resource growth. The successful candidate will be offered a 12-month fixed-term contract, with significant potential for extension, given the current rate of resource growth and ongoing exploration success.
Key Responsibilities:
- Apply a strong foundation in structural and vein-hosted systems, ideally with exposure to low-sulphidation epithermal systems
- Utilise advanced 3D geological modeling skills, including the integration of drillhole data (both new and historic), surface mapping, and structural information to define stratigraphy, veins, and mineralized zones at the prospect/project level
- Leverage expertise in brownfield exploration techniques and drilling operations management. Manage the development of the local exploration team, providing guidance, training, implementing procedures, and fostering effective communication across all levels.
About You:
- Priority will be for Chilean and Argentinian national applicants, for expatriate candidate's fluent Spanish speaker preferred
- Experience in underground mining or the full production lifecycle from brownfields to production is advantageous
- Proficient user of Leapfrog Geo; experience with Datamine or acQuire is a plus, though not essential
- An experienced leader, capable of managing diverse teams and ensuring high standards of safety and performance.
