MPI are currently seeking a passionate and experienced Geology Superintendent to join a mid-tier gold producer operating both open pit and underground mining operations in the heart of Western Australia.

Reporting directly to the Group Geology Manager, the Geology Superintendent will be responsible for leading and managing all geological functions across both open pit and underground operations. This is a key leadership role, driving short and long term geological planning, resource development, reconciliation, and grade control to ensure optimal ore extraction and mine performance.

The role:
  • Lead and mentor a team of geologists and technicians across open pit and underground environments
  • Oversee all geological activities, including mapping, sampling, logging, and modelling
  • Ensure accurate and timely resource/reserve estimations in compliance with JORC standards
  • Collaborate with mine planning and production teams to optimise ore recovery and minimise dilution
  • Drive continuous improvement in geological data quality, systems, and processes
  • Manage reconciliation processes and provide insights into performance variances
  • Ensure compliance with all safety, environmental, and regulatory standards
  • Foster a culture of innovation, accountability, and professional development within the geology team.
The requirements:
  • Tertiary qualification in Geology or Geoscience
  • Minimum 8-10 years of experience in gold mining, with a solid mix of open pit and underground experience
  • Demonstrated leadership experience in a senior geological or technical role
  • Strong skills in geological modelling, resource estimation, and reconciliation
  • Sound understanding of mining and grade control processes
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and team management skills
  • Commitment to safety and continuous improvement.
