Our client is a strategically positioned mineral exploration company with a substantial footprint in New South Wales; this role presents a rare opportunity to be part of a site leadership team at a time of growth and strategic development.

On behalf of our client, MPI are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Senior Project Geologist to work with the key technical and field teams in the pursuit of resource development and new discovery. The company’s flagship project is located in a prime geological setting surrounded by several tier 1 gold and copper operations.  With a substantial existing mineral resource of more than 3M Oz Au and 1Mt Cu, together with an extensive portfolio of tenements hosting multiple advanced and early-stage targets, this role will be pivotal in driving resource growth and future discovery.

About the role:
This is a high-impact site-based role, with a key focus on driving the resource development and exploration activities across a large-scale tenement package. You will form an integral part of the geology team with a key focus on all technical activities. It is expected that you would work closely with senior management on technical direction, and project prioritisation.

Key responsibilities:
  • Support the head of exploration to develop and implement, exploration strategies across tenement holdings, with a focus on both resource definition and discovery
  • Assist with planning, budgeting, execution and interpretation of work programs (mapping, geophysics, geochemistry, drilling)
  • Assist the head of exploration to manage site and all contractors, including drillers, field crew and consultants
  • Maintain the company’s technical database and ensure data quality standards are met
  • Ensure compliance with environmental, safety, regulatory obligations and reporting
  • Engage professionally with local communities and stakeholders to maintain long standing relationships ensuring alignment and continuity
  • Contribute to the advancement of projects through scoping, PFS and DFS stages by supporting geological inputs into studies.
Skills and qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Geology or related discipline (postgraduate qualifications highly regarded)
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in mineral exploration, with a track record of resource development and discovery
  • Demonstrated experience working in Cu – Au porphyry and epithermal systems ideally within NSW.
