Our client is a globally significant rare earth company aiming to create value and contribute to a cleaner earth for current and further generations.

About the role:
Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer this position will play a pivotal leadership role in the Company’s transition into project execution, by taking ownership and control of the company health and safety management systems, policies and strategies.

This position will build and lead a H&S team to ensure safe risk management and continuous improvement across all phases of project execution though to commissioning and operations.

Other key responsibilities include:
  • Working closely with the senior leadership and projects teams to ensure that health and safety strategies are fully designed and implemented
  • Drive continuous H&S improvement via proactive risk management
  • Take ownership, control and continuously improve the Health and Safety Management System
  • Develop and implement training sessions for management, supervisors and workers on health and safety practices and legislation
  • Foster a strong H&S culture, leadership, and psychosocial risk awareness
  • Conduct audits, monitor performance, deliver training, and manage staff/contractor training databases
  • Develop, implement and manage a Radiation Management Plan, Radiation Waste Management Plan as well as a Health Management System
  • Develop and implement a Crisis and Emergency Management Response Plan
  • Investigate incidents, non-conformities, and KPIs; manage incident reporting system and regulator notifications
  • Build project risk registers, emergency response plans; contribute to toolbox meetings and safety programs
  • Oversee contractor H&S, fitness for work, risk and health management plans.
About you:
  • Expertise in WA health, safety, and environmental legislation
  • Proven influence through relationships, analysis, and leadership
  • Strong collaboration, communication, and stakeholder engagement with regulators (LGIRS, DMPE)
  • Extensive mining experience in owner/operator and construction settings; contractor compliance support
  • Deep knowledge of WA WHS (Mines) Regulations and statutory duties
  • Track record building H&S systems (MSMS, PMHMP), processes, and teams
  • Pragmatic, collaborative leadership with robust reporting, analysis, and risk management
  • Strong experience and qualification in Lead ICAM, SMS Auditing, Current Training Assessing
  • Relevant Tertiary Qualifications in Health and Safety.
