Senior Geotechnical Engineer

An exciting opportunity exists for an experienced Senior Geotechnical Engineer to join a high-performing underground mining team at a long-life gold operation in the Kalgoorllie Goldfields region on a FIFO 8/6 roster. This role plays a critical part in supporting safe, efficient development and production through high-quality geotechnical input, analysis and ongoing optimisation of underground designs.

Working closely with the Underground Manager and broader technical services team, you will be responsible for geotechnical inspections, data collection, mapping, stability assessments, and providing timely, practical advice to ensure safe and productive mining activities. This is a permanent position offering stability, strong technical exposure and the opportunity to influence ground support standards and long-term planning.

Reporting to the Underground Manager, you will responsible for:
  • Conduct underground geotechnical mapping, core logging and stability assessments
  • Monitor and track geotechnical data collection to ensure accuracy and timeliness
  • Prepare concise technical reports and assist with ongoing investigations and analysis
  • Support the review, development and implementation of ground support systems
  • Provide geotechnical guidance to Mine Geologists, Engineers and operational teams
  • Contribute key data and insights to long-term mine planning processes
  • Liaise with Survey, Geology and Engineering departments to align with operational strategies
  • Assist in ensuring WHS, environmental and statutory requirements are adhered to
  • Identify and rectify unsafe conditions; support incident and hazard reporting processes
  • Provide input at daily production meetings and collaborate with senior mining engineers
  • Support mining operations as required.
Key requirements:
  • Tertiary qualifications in Geology, Mining or Civil Engineering
  • Minimum 5-7 years in underground Geotechnical engineering experience
  • Experience within WA underground gold mining, narrow vein exposure desirable
  • WA C-class driver's licence
  • G3 Risk Assessment certificate
  • Sound analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong communication skills.
