Exploration Geologist
- Contract – February start
- 16/12 FIFO ex Perth
- Laverton region
This role will put you in the thick of an active exploration program around the Laverton region, where your core logging, drilling supervision and QAQC work will directly influence planning and decision-making. You’ll be close to the rigs, working with an experienced team, and building practical skills that set you up for your next step in exploration or production.
You’ll also enjoy a predictable 16/12 FIFO roster from Perth and a well set up exploration camp with air-conditioned rooms and a full-time cook, making long swings more sustainable.
What you’ll be doing
In this role you will:
- Log core and chips across a variety of rock types
- Supervise RC drilling activities on site
- Implement and monitor QAQC procedures across sampling programs
- Maintain security and integrity of all samples and analytical results
- Treat all commercially sensitive information with strict confidentiality.
You will:
- Deepen your exposure to structured exploration programs in a recognised gold district
- Build confidence managing drill programs and contractors
- Strengthen your QAQC, structural, mapping and interpretation skills
- Work closely with experienced geologists and learn from established systems and processes.
To be successful, you will have:
- BSc in Geology, with Honours
- Relevant exploration or academic experience
- Knowledge across key exploration techniques including geochemistry, core and chip logging, structural geology, mapping, sampling methods, drilling and geophysical interpretation
- Working knowledge of GIS and exploration software
- Awareness of cultural and community considerations and land access requirements
- Strong commitment to safety, health and environmental standards
- Good organisational and administrative skills
- Medical fitness for remote work
- Valid manual driver’s licence and confident 4WD skills
- Provide First Aid (or equivalent)
- Full Australian working rights.
