Our client is an Australian gold mining company operating large-scale successful mines in the Northwest, focused on creating value for the community and delivering sustainable gold production for the future.

About the role:
A Western Australia-based operation is growing its open-pit gold mine in the Pilbara, creating an Senior Environment and Communities Advisor role to lead one of the site's current environmental and community programs during ongoing operations.

The mine is in an established area near Newman with good infrastructure and is increasing production on its long-life project.

The successful candidate will manage compliance, monitoring, rehabilitation, and community relations while leading the site-based team for sustainable results.

Other key responsibilities include:
  • Operate and maintain environmental monitoring equipment to meet compliance requirements
  • Monitor and assess ongoing environmental impacts from mining activities
  • Help with data analysis and prepare yearly compliance reports
  • Support environmental approvals, mining proposals, and mine closure plans
  • Design and supervise landforms such as waste dumps and tailings facilities, plus wastewater, landfill, and recycling operations
  • Build monitoring programs, run rehabilitation work, and maintain compliance with laws, permits, and stakeholders.
About you:
  • Proven experience leading teams on environmentally sensitive projects and delivering environmental programs (including greenfield sites)
  • Supportive stakeholder engagement with Traditional Owners, landowners, and regulators
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and GIS software; strong organisational skills with ability to work independently
  • Provide leadership to drive team goals, build stakeholder relationships, and communicate effectively.
Your qualifications:
  • At least six years' experience in mining or heavy industrial settings in a similar leadership role
  • Tertiary qualification in Environmental Science, Engineering, or equivalent
  • Minimum Certificate IV in Occupational Health and Safety
  • Current and valid manual driver's licence.
