Senior Health and Safety Advisor

About the role:
This WA based mining operator is restarting a high-grade copper-zinc mine in New South Wales, creating a Senior Health and Safety Advisor role – a key opportunity to build and lead the site's safety framework during production ramp-up.
The operation, in an established mining district with good infrastructure, is targeting significant annual throughput over a 10-year life, producing essential base metals for clean energy.
The successful candidate will develop best-practice safety systems, training, compliance, and excellent safety culture to ensure safe underground operations and long-term success for the business and its partners.
Other key responsibilities include:
- Investigating incidents, accidents, and complaints; lead risk assessments and build practical hazard analyses
- Lead hands-on audits and site inspections; keep equipment fully compliant and standards high
- Create straightforward safety guidelines, procedures, reports, updates, and newsletters that get results
- Deliver strong presentations, run effective safety meetings, and lead practical training to build team capability
- Partner with regulators and authorities to drive compliance and excellence.
- Hold a Certificate IV in Work Health & Safety (or higher qualification)
- Possess Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (TAE40116 or equivalent/higher)
- Trained in ICAM Lead Investigation methodology for incident response and WHS investigations
- Bring solid experience in health and safety within processing plants and underground mining environments
- Demonstrate proven leadership skills with the ability to mentor teams and deliver impactful training programs.
