Principal Mining Engineer

We are partnering with a tier-1 gold miner to recruit a Senior Mining Engineer for their underground mining project within Australia on an 8/6 or 14/14 FIFO roster.

Reporting to the Business Readiness Manager, you will responsible for:

Work closely with operations and technical teams to support business readiness, close operational gaps, and deliver a number of critical improvement and assurance initiatives
Leading a substantial documentation refresh project, including operational risk assessments and procedures (supported by two additional resources)
Supporting and reviewing data drilling systems.
Providing technical input across explosives systems, including:
Reviewing and identifying alternatives to the current PED system
Broader assessment and potential trial of alternative explosives systems
Supporting an area denial system trial for jumbos
Addressing ongoing challenges with underground services (air and water), including system setup, management, and performance
Driving general productivity improvement initiatives, such as:
Establishment of in-pit pads and short dumping processes to improve ore movement during shift change.

Key requirements:

Tertiary qualifications in Mining Engineering
Minimum 10 years in Underground mining engineering experience
Strong technical capability with a practical, delivery-focused mindset
Comfortable working autonomously in a contract environment
Proven ability to engage with operations, challenge systems, and implement improvements
Experience with automation, UG services, explosives systems, and operational risk documentation highly regarded.
