Alternate Underground Manager

We are pleased to be partnering with one of our great clients to recruit an Alternate Underground Manager on a permanent basis for their project near Kalgoorlie.

Reporting to the Underground Manager, you will be responsible for managing and coordinating all facets of underground operations, including mining and planning activities, to achieve short, medium and long-term safety, production and cost objectives. With the underground mine entering a significant growth phase, this role offers exposure to complex geology, large-scale mining projects and the chance to play a key role in shaping the future of a rapidly expanding operation.

Key responsibilities:
  • Monitor development, stoping and mining projects against monthly and quarterly targets
  • Manage mine schedules and forecasts to meet budget, safety and environmental requirements
  • Actively manage contractors and business partners to ensure safe, efficient production
  • Provide operational input into mine planning, projects, infrastructure, ventilation, survey and geotechnical requirements
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives across safety, productivity and cost performance.
Key requirements:
  • Degree in Mining Engineering
  • WA First Class Mine Manager’s Certificate of Competency
  • Strong underground mining background, ideally within large-scale mechanised and long-hole stoping operations
  • Demonstrated experience managing contractors
  • Proven ability to lead teams, drive safety culture and deliver operational excellence
  • Growth mindset with strong communication and relationship-building skills
  • Capability to mentor engineers within a fast-paced underground environment.
