Underground Manager

We are pleased to be partnering with one of our great clients to recruit an Underground Manager on a permanent basis for their project in the Goldfields.

As part of an expanding underground operation, this senior leadership role reports to the Mining Manager and is responsible for managing all facets of underground mining activities at a large-scale gold operation in Western Australia. This role plays a critical part in driving safe, disciplined and high-performing underground operations. You will lead by example, embedding a strong safety culture while delivering production, cost and recovery outcomes that support long-term business objectives.

Key responsibilities:
  • Lead and manage underground production and development activities, balancing day-to-day execution with longer-term planning
  • Monitor work completion against the operational plan and implement corrective actions where required
  • Drive continuous improvement through open communication, collaboration and proactive problem-solving
  • Maximise mined recovery and minimise dilution across stoping operations
  • Oversee the development of mining schedules to deliver accurate forecasts and budgets, ensuring alignment between development and production requirements.
Key requirements:
  • Degree in Mining Engineering
  • WA First Class Mine Manager’s Certificate of Competency.
  • Strong underground mining background, ideally within large-scale mechanised and long-hole stoping operations
  • Proven capability in contractor management and effective business partner engagement
  • Strong leadership presence with a growth mindset and highly developed communication and relationship-building skills.
