Field Assistant - Mackay
This is a Mackay-based Field Assistant role with a global mining company, offering steady work and long-term exposure to active exploration programs without FIFO.
You’ll be stepping into a hands-on role supporting both field operations and core yard activities, working alongside an experienced geology team. What you’ll be doing:
You’ll split your time between the field and the core yard, supporting exploration programs end to end. This includes:
- Field assistant duties supporting geologists on active programs
- Core yard work including core handling, cutting, sampling and housekeeping
- Assisting with drill site set-up, rehabilitation and logistics
- Supporting camp, equipment and day-to-day site operations
- Working safely and contributing positively to the team.
- Ongoing, stable contract with a respected global miner
- Local roster: 16/12 field-based, with some 4/3 town-based swings
- Consistent hands-on work across both field and core yard environments
- A supportive team and well-run site.
This role requires previous Field Assistant and core yard experience. You’ll be comfortable working independently, know what’s expected on site, and be ready to hit the ground running.
You’ll also need:
- To be Mackay-based with a manual driver’s licence
- Current First Aid ticket (HLTAID011) with CPR (HLTAID009)
- 4WD ticket highly regarded
- Ability to pass a pre-employment medical and drug and alcohol screen
- Current national police clearance (within last 6 months).
