Rig Geologist

We’re partnering with a well-established owner-operator gold project in WA that’s entering an exciting resource growth phase after a strong year of infill drilling. With multiple rigs turning and a tight, experienced geology team on site, they’re now looking to bring on a Rig Geologist who wants to be genuinely involved in the geology — not just clock in, log, and head back to camp.

This is a role for someone who enjoys being part of the conversation: sharing observations, contributing to daily decisions, and helping shape drilling strategy in real time.

The role:
  • 6–12 month contract, February start
  • 2/2 FIFO roster, ex Perth
  • RC and Diamond drilling across active resource growth programs
  • 3 RC rigs, 2 DD rigs currently operating
  • Drill sites approx. 15 minutes from camp
  • Day shift currently 5:00am–5:00pm (moving to 5:30–5:30 with daylight).
You’ll be working alongside a collaborative team of Project Geologists, Rig Geologists, senior technical leadership and supervisors, with strong crossover on site to support mentoring, learning, and continuity.

What they’re looking for:
  • 3–5 years’ experience as a Rig Geologist
  • Strong hands-on experience with both RC and DD
  • Confident communicator — clear, constructive, and self-aware
  • Someone who provides live and end-of-day feedback on geology, structures, and observations
  • Proactive mindset — comfortable speaking up and contributing beyond your own rig.
This team values culture and communication highly. They’re looking for people who are engaged, curious, and willing to reflect and grow — not blunt, siloed, or just “doing the shift.”

What’s on offer:
  • $700 per day + super
  • FIFO ex Perth via charter (East Coast–based candidates considered; self-manage travel to WA)
  • On-site geotech logging training
  • Older-style camp with ongoing upgrades
  • Small indoor/outdoor gym
  • Supportive environment with genuine room to develop as the project grows.
Requirements:
  • NPC issued within the last 3 months
  • Manual driver’s licence
  • First Aid Certificate (or willingness to obtain)
  • Ability to complete standard mining medical and LabDAS.
If you’re a Rig Geo who enjoys being involved, values good communication, and wants to contribute to a growing gold project — this is a strong opportunity to step into a team that genuinely listens and acts on what’s happening in the ground.

Unfortunately, MPI Recruitment are only able to consider candidates with appropriate and relevant experience who are Australian Permanent Residents or hold valid Australian working rights.
