Mine Planning Superintendent

An exciting opportunity has arisen at a long-life, tier-one underground gold operation in WA for a Mine Planning Superintendent. This is a key leadership role for someone passionate about driving operational excellence, safety, and continuous improvement within a high-performing Technical Services team.

About the role:
Reporting to the Technical Services Manager, you will lead the Mine Planning Engineering function and play a critical role in optimising mine planning activities to support safe, efficient, and cost-effective gold extraction.

You will deliver optimised underground mining forecasts through pragmatic, operationally focused planning. This role spans short-term implementation planning through to medium-term (up to three-year) planning horizons, including annual budget forecasts, aligned with Life of Mine plans and broader business strategy.

You will also act as a visible leader on site, promoting a strong safety culture and performance standards that support the creation of enduring value beyond mining.

Key responsibilities:
  • Develop, implement, and continuously improve mine planning systems that are documented, controlled, and auditable
  • Work closely with technical and operational teams to optimise underground mining performance
  • Review and update mine plans to incorporate exploration outcomes, operational performance, and site-based feedback
  • Prepare robust mine schedules that deliver an effective production profile while identifying and managing technical and operational risk
  • Ensure efficient utilisation of resources through appropriate evaluation, ranking, and prioritisation of projects aligned with strategic objectives
  • Drive a culture of continuous improvement by proactively identifying and pursuing value-adding opportunities
  • Provide strong leadership, mentoring, and development to mine planning team members.
Key requirements:
  • Bachelor of Mining Engineering supported by extensive underground mining experience
  • Proven experience delivering operationally ready mine designs and schedules
  • Strong capability in managing engineering workflows and technical studies
  • Well-developed communication and leadership skills, with the ability to work effectively across multidisciplinary teams
  • Demonstrated experience with Deswik.CAD, Deswik.Sched, Ventsim, and Microsoft Office
  • First Class Mine Manager’s Certificate and/or SSE certification.
