Planning Superintendent

On behalf of our client, an ASX listed gold producer, we are currently recruiting a Planning Superintendent to lead the strategic and Life of Mine (LOM) planning outcomes at its flagship gold operation in Thailand.

Ideally you will cherish the opportunity to relocate to Thailand for this residential role.  Alternatively, you can undertake the role on a FIFO basis, working a 28:14 roster.

Reporting to the Mine Manager, the Planning Superintendent will be responsible for long-range mine planning, budgeting, optimisation, and financial performance within the 6 months to LOM time horizon. You will play a pivotal role in shaping mine strategy, improving operational performance, and delivering safe, efficient and cost-effective outcomes.

Key responsibilities:
  • Develop Life of Mine, long-term and budget mine plans
  • Conduct scenario analysis and pit optimisation studies
  • Prepare medium and long-term production schedules
  • Integrate geological, geotechnical and economic inputs into mine designs
  • Provide input into feasibility studies and ore reserve reporting
  • Deliver financial modelling, risk and constraints analysis
  • Support capital and operating budget development
  • Collaborate with technical, operational and regulatory stakeholders
  • Lead planning team capability, training and development initiatives.
Key requirements:
  • A demonstrated track record of success in leading and empowering a culturally diversified technical workforce
  • Mining Engineering degree
  • 15+ years’ mining industry experience, including 8+ years in senior technical or planning leadership roles
  • Strong mine planning and technical services background
  • Proficiency in mine planning software (Deswik, Datamine, Micromine, Vulcan or similar)
  • Strong financial, risk and optimisation capability
  • Strong English communication skills
  • Previous expatriate experience, within the gold mining sector is preferred.
