Mining Manager

We are currently recruiting for a Mining Manager to lead and coordinate all mining activities at its open-pit gold operation in Thailand.

Ideally you will be able and willing to relocate to Thailand for this residential role.  However, there is the option for FIFO (28/14) should relocation not be an option for you.

Reporting to the General Manager, you will be responsible for delivering safe, efficient and cost-effective mining performance while achieving production targets and driving continuous improvement across safety, productivity, quality and cost. You will work closely with Mining, Geology, Processing and HSE teams to deliver strong mine-to-mill outcomes and support future operational growth.

Key responsibilities:
  • Coordinate all mining activities to achieve production and cost targets
  • Deliver short, medium and long-term operational performance outcomes
  • Ensure safe and efficient mining operations and development activities
  • Oversee mine operational control, productivity and performance monitoring
  • Support future project development and strategic planning initiatives
  • Manage mining contractors and ensure performance against agreed targets
  • Approve mine plans and schedules (monthly, quarterly, annual)
  • Monitor productivity, costs and operational performance
  • Manage departmental budgets, forecasts and consumables planning
  • Monitor ore quality, grades and mining performance data
  • Maintain compliance with health, safety and environmental standards
  • Establish safe work practices and operational procedures
  • Lead, coach and develop operational teams
  • Support workforce capability and training initiatives
  • Promote respect for local culture and workplace standards.
Key requirements:
  • Strong safety focus and commitment to continuous improvement
  • Excellent leadership, communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Mining Engineering degree and/or Unrestricted Quarry Managers Certificate
  • 10+ years’ mining industry experience, including 5+ years in management roles, preferably within open pit gold operations
  • Experience managing mining contracts and contractor performance
  • Strong budgeting, forecasting and operational planning capability
  • High level of organisational and problem-solving ability
  • Previous expatriate experience (preferred).
As a pivotal player in the mine leadership team, this role will provide you with career defining impact on the long-term operational future of the company.

Additionally, you will have the opportunity to live residentially in a scenic regional community in Thailand.  Alternatively, you can work on a FIFO roster that supports either significant periods of time at your existing home base or provide a platform for international travel.

An exceptional salary package is just an added bonus.

Unfortunately, MPI are only able to consider people with appropriate and relevant experience, and who are either Australian Permanent Residents or have the necessary permits to work in Australia and whom are currently in Australia.
