Core Logging Geologist

If you’re running on empty or trying to meet expectations that simply don’t fit into a day, this role offers something refreshingly different: structure, stability, and rosters that genuinely support your life.

In this Core Logging Geologist role, you’ll have the space and support to produce high quality work without unnecessary pressure. You’ll step into a clearly defined role with established systems, steady workflows, and a team that values accuracy over chaos. Expect an organised core yard, reliable processes, and leaders who back you rather than micromanage.

You’ll be trusted to use your geological skills fully – logging core in detail, interpreting lithology and structure, and maintaining high quality data the operation relies on daily. Because your work directly feeds into modelling, grade control, and planning, you’ll finally see the clear link between your effort and real operational outcomes.

This role is ideal for someone who wants to feel competent, supported, and able to finish each swing with enough energy left for life outside of work. With options for FIFO ex Perth on an 8/6 (12-hour shifts) or a residential 4/3 (10 hour days), you can choose the rhythm that best fits your wellbeing and goals.

This position is offered as a 6-month contract with the potential for extension based on operational needs.

Key requirements:
  • Degree in Geology or a related discipline
  • Previous mining geology experience, ideally in gold
  • Exposure to grade control, definition drilling, or mine geology
  • Proficiency in MS Office
  • Experience with Leapfrog or Datamine (advantageous but not essential)
  • Current WA manual driver’s licence
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Ability to manage large volumes of drill core accurately and efficiently.
Role scope:
  • Detailed logging of diamond and RC core
  • Lithology, alteration, mineralisation, and structural interpretation
  • Core photography, sampling, tray organisation, and yard upkeep
  • Database entry, validation, and QA/QC
  • Supporting modelling, mapping, and drilling programs
  • Maintaining safe, tidy, and organised logging and sampling spaces.
If you’re ready for a contract role that offers balance, clarity, and genuinely meaningful geological work, we’d love to hear from you. Apply now.

Unfortunately, MPI Recruitment are only able to consider candidates with appropriate and relevant experience who are Australian Permanent Residents or hold valid Australian working rights.
