Field Assistant

If you enjoy being hands-on in the field and want consistent, well-run exploration work without unnecessary noise or confusion, this Field Assistant role offers exactly that.

This role supports an established exploration team running active field programs across drilling and site operations. You will be involved in day-to-day field activities and work alongside experienced technicians and geologists who value preparation, communication, and steady execution.

The scope is practical and varied, covering drilling support, sampling assistance, site logistics, and general field duties. You will be relied on to contribute meaningfully to the program, not just fill space. The site runs to plan, expectations are clear, and work is shared fairly across the team.

The roster is 16 days on and 12 days off, FIFO from Perth to Port Hedland. The contract is initially two months, with a strong likelihood of extension depending on program requirements and performance.

This role suits someone who already understands remote exploration environments and wants consistent work within a capable, organised site team.

The company behind this role is a stable exploration operator with experienced leadership and established field systems. Safety, planning, and realistic workloads are priorities, and field staff are trusted to do their jobs without micromanagement.

You will be involved across RC and diamond drilling support, sample handling, basic core processing, site housekeeping, and logistics assistance. The work environment is structured, well-resourced, and focused on doing things properly rather than rushing or cutting corners.

This position works well for someone with prior exploration field experience who is reliable, physically capable, and comfortable contributing across multiple aspects of a field program.

Requirements include:
  • Previous experience in exploration field roles or similar
  • Manual driver’s licence
  • First Aid certificate
  • Current national police clearance within 6 months
  • Ability to pass pre-employment medical and D&A testing.
If you are looking for a solid field role with consistent work, a clear scope, and a well-run site, apply now!

MPI can only consider candidates with relevant experience who hold Australian permanent residency or valid work rights and are currently based in Australia.
