Chief Operating Officer
Our client is an ASX listed exploration and mine development company with existing assets in the United States of America. Their flagship project is an underground base metals-silver mine. Significant surface and underground infrastructure from prior mining activity is in place, supporting a rapid mine development post final DFS and FID. To drive the evolution of the company to producer status, we now seek a technically competent underground mining engineer. Reporting to the MD/CEO, you will lead the transition from project development into operational readiness and sustainable production, ensuring the business is positioned for safe, efficient and profitable growth.

- Work with existing teams and consultants currently engaged, driving the progression of the business through the latter stages of the DFS and the FID
- Partner with technical, commercial and project teams to manage risk, regulatory obligations and stakeholder expectations
- Ensure strong safety leadership and a culture of compliance across all exploration, construction, commissioning and operational activities
- Drive operational readiness programs to support the successful transition from development through commissioning and into production
- Build and lead high-performing teams, systems and processes capable of supporting corporate and operational goals
- Lead all operational aspects of the business, including mining, processing, project delivery, supply chain, maintenance and support functions
- Optimise production performance, cost efficiency, asset utilisation and continuous improvement initiatives
- Provide regular development & operational reporting, together with strategic advice to the Managing Director.
- Tertiary qualifications as a mining engineer (or mining related degree) with a minimum of 10 years’ post graduate experience
- Strong background in underground mine development, operational start-up, ramp-up and production environments.
- Demonstrated ability to lead complex operations with a strong focus on safety, performance and commercial outcomes
- Ideally you will have operated at the General Manager level on an existing underground mining operation, although people with a number of years as an Underground Manager are also encouraged to enquire/apply
- Strong financial acumen, including budgeting, cost control, capital planning and performance reporting
- A collaborative leadership style with the ability to build culture, capability and accountability across the organisation.

- The position will be based in Perth, although frequent travel to the project(s) in the USA will be required
