Underground Geologist
If you’re confident logging core but want that work to lead directly into underground gold production, this role gives you a clear path to get there.
You’ll start on a defined 6–10 week drill program, logging around 70–80m per day using LogChief. The focus is on quality interpretation and solid core data, not just pushing meters. From there, the role transitions into an underground geologist position as mining ramps up, giving you exposure to production, development and stope work using Leapfrog and Surpac.
The setup is straightforward. 7:7 roster, Thursday to Thursday, FIFO ex Perth into Wiluna with Skippers charter flights. You’ll have your own room in camp and a stable routine that makes the swing predictable. The first 12 months of mining are already planned, so you’re stepping into something with structure and direction rather than uncertainty.
This suits people who want to stay technical but broaden their scope. You won’t get boxed into pure logging or exploration work. You’ll see your geology applied underground and be part of how the operation develops. There is strong potential for this contract to extend beyond the initial program, with scope to move into a longer-term or permanent position as the operation progresses.
The business behind the role is moving from drilling into sustained underground gold production. It’s a phase where geology has a direct impact on outcomes, and where good people tend to pick up responsibility quickly. You’ll be working with established systems, contributing to key decisions, and building experience that carries forward.
What you’ll need:
- Tertiary qualification in Geology or related discipline
- 2–5 years post-grad geology experience (minimum 12 months underground experience)
- Unrestricted Australian working rights
- Manual drivers licence
- Current National Police Clearance
- Ability to complete pre-employment medical / D&A.
If you want your work to move beyond logging and into underground production influence, this is worth a conversation.
Unfortunately, MPI Recruitment can only consider applicants with relevant qualifications and experience who are Australian Permanent Residents or hold valid working rights for Australia.
