Exploration Technician
One of MPI Recruitment’s clients, is seeking a full time Exploration Technician, to support a with an established exploration team, in a Greenfields program across Far North Queensland.
This role is required to assist the Exploration Operations and Geologists and other technical staff, implementing exploration work programmes in the field. This role is integral in delivering exploration activities, safely and efficiently.
Key responsibilities:
Unfortunately, MPI are only able to consider people with appropriate and relevant experience, and who are either Australian Permanent Residents or have the necessary permits to work in Australia and whom are currently in Australia.
This role is required to assist the Exploration Operations and Geologists and other technical staff, implementing exploration work programmes in the field. This role is integral in delivering exploration activities, safely and efficiently.
Key responsibilities:
- Assist with field programs including soil sampling, drill support and general exploration activities
- Collect, label and dispatch samples to ensure accurate and timely results
- Preparing materials appropriately for further examination
- Assisting where required, with tests and analyses
- Ensure testing equipment is serviced and maintained
- Set up, maintain and demobilise remote field camps
- Manage field consumables including fuel, water and equipment
- Operate 4WD vehicles across remote and challenging terrain
- Maintain high standards of safety, environmental compliance and site housekeeping
- Participate in pre-starts, hazard assessments and daily planning
- Support accurate field data collection and reporting, via maps, charts and diagrams.
- At least 3 years’ experience in in mineral exploration or similar
- Relevant qualification or related study, preferable
- Current manual driver’s licence (HR licence advantageous)
- Demonstrated 4WD experience in remote conditions
- Strong safety mindset and ability to follow procedures
- Good communication skills and ability to work in small teams
- Physically fit and comfortable working in tropical and remote environments.
- First aid certification
- Drill support or core processing experience
- Machinery tickets (e.g. forklift, loader).
