OHS Manager

The salary is only half the deal. This role doesn’t forget the other half.

This OHS Manager role gives you full accountability for the Health, Safety and Training function with direct influence on operational leaders, critical risk management, and sustainable performance improvement. You will lead and develop the site safety team, partner with senior leadership to mature the Operational Risk Management framework, strengthen critical controls, build leadership capability in risk ownership and decision-making, ensure high-quality investigations deliver systemic learning, and verify that controls work in practice through targeted assurance. The focus is practical outcomes in the field, not additional bureaucracy.

This 6-month contract (with permanent potential for the right person) operates on a 4/3 4/3 8/6 roster, Tuesday-Friday, with immediate start. You will work across underground and surface operations with the authority, resources, and senior support required to drive real change.

This role suits a credible OHS leader with 10-15 years mining experience (gold preferred), underground and surface exposure, Dip OHS or relevant tertiary qualification, Lead Auditor, Lead Investigator, and a practical, field-engaged style. Emergency response experience is highly regarded. Cert IV TAE and SSE ticket provide advantage.

You will take full leadership of the Health, Safety and Training team, improve real risk management and critical controls where work happens, and create lasting improvements from incidents while building stronger operational leaders.

If you are ready to move beyond compliance activity into genuine risk ownership, stronger critical controls, and visible leadership impact, apply now. This is the step that aligns your expertise with the authority and support to deliver the safety outcomes you know are possible. Get in touch today.

Unfortunately, MPI Recruitment are only able to consider candidates with appropriate and relevant experience who are Australian Permanent Residents or hold valid Australian working rights.
