Senior Open Pit Mining Engineer

Opportunity:
Our client operates one of Australia's most unique mining assets and is seeking an experienced Senior Mining Engineer.  

Working closely with the current Mining Manager, you will be mentored from day one, gaining exposure to the operational, leadership, commercial and statutory responsibilities required to transition into a site leadership role by 2028.

A. This is a prerequisite for a role designed to develop the successful candidate into the Mining Manager's successor.

What we're looking for:
This is not a role for someone whose experience has primarily been mine planning and technical office-based functions.

You will demonstrate:
  • Strong open pit operational and supervisory experience
  • Experience managing Leading Hands, Supervisors and Contractors
  • Ability to identify safety gaps, operational risks and improvement opportunities
  • Experience with QA/QC protocols and performance management in drilling and blasting operations
  • Knowledge of ICAM investigations, SOPs and Take 5 Risk Assessments
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Commercial awareness and cost optimisation experience.
Essential requirements:
  • Tertiary qualification in Mining Engineering
  • Current Quarry Manager Certificate (mandatory
  • Strong mine planning and scheduling capability
  • Proven drill and blast design experience
  • Experience with Surpac, MinSched, MPX and related mining software
