Open Pit Manager

We are pleased to be partnering with a leading WA Gold producer to recruit an Open Pit Manager on a permanent basis within the Kalgoorlie goldfields. Reporting directly to the Mining Manager, this is a key leadership position where you'll drive operational excellence, build high-performing teams, and deliver outstanding safety, production and cost outcomes.

Working on an 8 days on, 6 days off FIFO roster from Perth.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide strategic leadership across open pit mining operations, ensuring safe, efficient and productive performance
  • Deliver production, budget and operational targets while maintaining the highest safety standards
  • Optimise mining assets, equipment utilisation and operational resources to maximise business performance
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives that enhance productivity, reduce costs and improve operational outcomes
  • Collaborate closely with contractors and cross-functional teams to achieve Life of Mine objectives
  • Lead operational planning, reporting and execution to support sustainable long-term performance
  • Build and maintain a positive culture founded on accountability, collaboration, continuous improvement and care for people.


Key Requirements:
  • Minimum of 10 years experience in hard rock, open pit mining, ideally within WA gold operations
  • Degree in Mining Engineering recognised in Australia
  • WA Quarry Manager’s certificate (essential)
  • Strong knowledge of open pit mining methods, contractor management and operational optimisation
  • Demonstrated ability to align safety, production, and planning outcomes
  • Proven experience managing budgets, forecasts, and cost performance
  • A strategic leader with excellent communication skills and a focus on long-term success
  • A WA First Class Mine Manager's certificate will be highly regarded.
