Project Exploration Geologist

If you're ready to move beyond logging and play a bigger role in geological interpretation, this opportunity offers a clear path forward.

Join an established exploration team running multiple active drill programs across a significant gold project. You'll take ownership of RC and diamond drill supervision, logging, interpretation and geological data quality, while developing the skills needed to progress into targeting and drill design.

Working an 8:6 FIFO roster ex Perth, you'll be part of a collaborative team where your contribution is visible and your development is encouraged. This is a hands-on position that will keep you close to the geology, the rigs and the core shed, making it ideal for someone who enjoys practical exploration work rather than being stuck behind a desk.

You'll be responsible for:

  • Supervising RC and diamond drilling programs

  • Logging and interpreting RC chips and diamond core

  • Maintaining high-quality geological data and validating information within Plexar

  • Ensuring environmental and safety compliance standards are met

  • Contributing to geological interpretation and exploration targeting.

This is a permanent opportunity offering a combination that can be difficult to find active drilling programs, genuine exploration upside and a clear pathway into greater technical responsibility.

You'll gain exposure to multiple diamond rigs and RC drilling programs throughout the year, building your experience across a range of exploration activities. As your understanding of the project grows, you'll become increasingly involved in geological interpretation, targeting and drill planning.

The team values practical geologists who are willing to roll up their sleeves, contribute ideas and maintain high technical standards. It's a role that suits someone looking to develop into a stronger all-round project geologist while remaining hands-on in the field.

To be successful, you'll bring:

  • At least 4 years' exploration geology experience

  • Strong gold exploration experience

  • RC and diamond drilling supervision experience

  • Strong logging and interpretation skills

  • Experience with geological databases (Plexar advantageous)

  • Current manual driver's licence

  • A practical, positive and team-focused attitude.

If you're looking for a permanent role where you can build on your drilling experience and progress into interpretation and drill design, apply now or get in touch for a confidential discussion.

Unfortunately, MPI are only able to consider people with appropriate and relevant experience, and who are either Australian Permanent Residents or have the necessary permits to work in Australia and whom are currently in Australia.
