Process Safety Training Advisor

If you’re good at training but tired of it not sticking where it matters most, this role changes that.

As the Processing Safety Training Advisor, you will report to the OHSET Manager/OHS Superintendent while maintaining a strong partnership with the Processing Manager and superintendents.

Your mandate is straightforward: ensure every operator is trained properly, assessed consistently, and capable of working safely and competently every shift. This is field-focused work. You will spend significant time in the plant alongside operators and supervisors, delivering practical coaching, reinforcing standards, and verifying that training delivers real-world performance.

In this role you will:
  • Deliver and assess training to TAE requirements and site standards while working directly in the plant
  • Maintain and continuously improve training packages, Safe Work Procedures (SWPs), work instructions, and competency frameworks tailored to processing operations
  • Coordinate site training plans, track competencies, close gaps quickly, and keep records audit-ready
  • Coach operators on-shift to lift capability, safety awareness, and consistency
  • Conduct safety interactions, support inspections, and contribute to incident investigations
  • Partner with supervisors to make training practical, relevant, and embedded in daily operations
  • Support emergency response through targeted training and drill participation
  • Drive continuous improvement in procedures, materials, and safety systems.

You will step into a stable, growing operation with defined scope rather than building systems from scratch. The pace supports focus on quality outcomes and work-life balance on a family-friendly FIFO roster.

The operation values practical safety leadership, offers clear pathways to use and expand skills, and operates with stability and respect for those who deliver results in the field. You will have the resources to do varied, high-impact work that directly shapes safe, consistent operations in the mid-west region of Western Australia.

About you:
  • Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (TAE)
  • Solid background in mineral processing, ideally gold
  • Proven experience training and assessing in live operational environments
  • Strong understanding of competency-based systems and compliance
  • Practical, no-nonsense approach that builds instant credibility with crews and supervisors
  • Comfortable and effective working in the field and engaging directly with operators
  • Self-motivated with the ability to manage priorities independently
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience with training management systems and reporting tools.

Desirable:
  • Certificate IV in WHS or equivalent
  • First Aid qualifications and exposure to emergency response or mine rescue
  • Working knowledge of WA mining legislation.

If you are done with training that fails to translate on the ground and want to make a tangible difference in safety and capability at a growing gold operation, apply now. We will be in touch to explore the fit.

Unfortunately, MPI are only able to consider people with appropriate and relevant experience, and who are either Australian Permanent Residents or have the necessary permits to work in Australia and whom are currently in Australia.
