Rig Geologist

This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in an active diamond drilling program focused on resource growth, exploration upside, and supporting the future development of a historic underground nickel operation. Working closely with the exploration team, you will supervise a surface diamond drill rig and contribute to advancing one of Western Australia's most exciting nickel restart projects. 

This contract opportunity is commencing in September through to the end of November, with the potential for extension based on drilling progress and ongoing exploration success. The role is offered on a 2:1 roster either DIDO from Kalgoorlie or Kambalda, or FIFO from Perth. 

In this role, your responsibilities will include: 

• Supervising and managing a surface diamond drilling program 
• Drillhole logging, core processing, sampling and geological interpretation 
• Collection, validation and management of geological data 
• Contractor management and drill rig supervision 
• Ensuring the safe and efficient execution of drilling activities 
• Maintaining high standards of health, safety and environmental compliance 
• Geological reporting and database management 
• Supporting resource growth, exploration targeting and future mine development activities.

To be successful, you will have: 

• A tertiary qualification in Geology 
• Previous surface diamond drilling logging and processing experience 
• Nickel sulphide, base metals and/or gold exploration experience 
• A current C class manual driver's licence 
• A current First Aid certificate 
• Strong geological interpretation and data management skills 
• Experience supervising drilling contractors in a field-based environment 
• The ability to work independently while contributing effectively to a collaborative exploration team.
