Underground Geologist

If you're confident logging core but don't want to stay stuck in a drilling-focused role, this position gives you a pathway into underground production geology. You'll see your work applied in a producing gold environment while building experience across development, production and stope geology.

You'll join a team at an exciting stage of mine development. Initially, your focus will be on a targeted underground drill program where you'll be responsible for geological logging, sampling and maintaining high-quality geological data using LogChief. The emphasis is on good geology and sound interpretation, not simply pushing through metres.

As the operation progresses, your role will broaden into underground production geology. You'll gain exposure to ore drive development, stope design, grade control and reconciliation work, while building experience with Leapfrog and Surpac. Rather than being confined to a purely logging-based position, you'll have a clear opportunity to develop into a well-rounded underground geologist.

The roster is a family-friendly 7:7 FIFO arrangement from Perth into Wiluna via charter flights. You'll have your own room in camp and a predictable routine that allows you to plan your time both on and off site.

This tends to suit geologists who enjoy the technical side of the job but want greater exposure to mining operations and the opportunity to see geological decisions influence production outcomes.

What you'll need:

• Degree in Geology or a related discipline
• 2-5 years' post-graduate geology experience
• At least 12 months of underground gold geology experience
• Experience logging and interpreting drill core
• Unrestricted Australian working rights
• Current manual driver's licence
• Current national police clearance
• Ability to pass a pre-employment medical and drug & alcohol screening.
