Field Assistant

If you enjoy field-based exploration and want exposure across drilling, sampling and geophysical programs, this is an opportunity to join an early-stage greenfields project in Central Australia.

Working a 2/1 roster, you’ll join a small exploration team supporting an active copper-gold program. The work will be varied, with your time split between supporting diamond drilling and getting out in the field as the wider exploration program progresses.

Around the drill program, you’ll assist with measuring and orientating core, core mark-up, recoveries and RQD, MagSus and XRF readings, core photography, cutting and sampling, and preparing samples for the laboratory.

Away from the rig, you’ll also support broader greenfields activities including geophysical surveys and soil or stream sampling, along with drill site preparation and rehabilitation when required.

This role will suit someone who enjoys working outdoors, is comfortable with the physical side of field exploration and is happy working within a small remote team. Previous exploration or drilling experience will be valuable, but just as important is being practical, reliable and willing to help wherever needed.

You’ll need:

• Current Australian manual driver's licence
• Current First Aid, or willingness to obtain
• Good level of physical fitness
• Basic computer and data-entry skills
• Ability to work 12-hour shifts
• Confidence working in remote field conditions
• Forklift or backhoe tickets are advantageous. 

The role will commence mid-October on a 2/1 roster.

Accommodation is in a remote modular camp with private rooms and shared bathroom and kitchen facilities. The camp is dry, with personnel currently preparing their own meals.
