Alternate Underground Manager

We are working with a leading Australian gold producer to appoint an experienced Alternate Underground Manager for one of its underground operations in Western Australia.

Available on either a permanent or contract basis, this role offers the opportunity to take on a key leadership position within a high performing underground mining operation. Reporting to the Underground Manager, you will provide leadership across mining and technical teams while driving the safe and efficient execution of the mine plan.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide leadership and direction to underground operational and technical teams
  • Drive the safe and efficient delivery of production and development targets
  • Work closely with Mining, Geology and Technical Services teams to ensure successful execution of the mine plan
  • Promote a strong safety culture through visible leadership and proactive risk management
  • Monitor operational performance and identify opportunities to improve productivity and efficiency
  • Coach and develop supervisors and emerging leaders within the operation
  • Fulfil statutory responsibilities associated with the First Class Mine Manager appointment
  • Contribute to mine planning, operational decision-making and continuous improvement initiatives.

About You:
  • WA First Class Mine Manager's Certificate of Competency
  • Tertiary qualifications in Mining Engineering or a related discipline
  • Experience within mechanised underground hard-rock mining operations
  • Previous experience as an Alternate Underground Manager, Mining Superintendent, Production Superintendent or Senior Mining Engineer
  • Sound understanding of WA mining legislation and statutory requirements
  • Strong leadership, communication and stakeholder management skills
  • A practical, solutions focused approach
  • Current C Class manual driver's licence.
