Core Logging Geologist
If you enjoy logging quality underground core and want six months of consistent work on a well-supported drilling program, this role offers exactly that. You'll step into a busy gold operation with nine underground diamond rigs generating regular, high-volume core and plenty of structural exposure.
Working a 14/7 FIFO roster from Perth, you'll join an established geology team responsible for logging all diamond core produced over the previous 24 hours. Typical daily volumes sit between 250 and 300 metres, making this a role that suits geologists who are confident in their logging ability and enjoy working in a fast-paced production environment.
You'll spend your time recording lithology and alteration, measuring and describing structures, completing core orientation and metre marking, preparing core for sampling, and entering geological data into Acquire. The focus is on quality geological observations, accurate record keeping, and maintaining established logging and sampling standards.
This opportunity is likely to appeal to geologists who enjoy being hands-on with core and want exposure to a significant underground drilling program. You'll be working with a large volume of fresh drill core every day, providing excellent exposure to structural interpretation and underground gold systems.
The operation behind this role is well established, with a clear scope of work and a geology team that understands what good geological data looks like. Rather than stepping into a position that's still being defined, you'll join a functioning team with proven systems, processes and consistent drilling activity.
To be successful, you'll bring:
If you're looking for a contract where you can put your logging skills to work immediately while gaining exposure to a substantial underground drilling program, we'd like to hear from you.
Unfortunately, MPI are only able to consider candidates with relevant experience who are currently located in Australia and hold unrestricted Australian working rights.
