Exploration Geologist

If your current contract is coming to an end and you're not quite ready to park the boots for Christmas, this opportunity could be a good fit.

We're looking for an experienced Exploration Geologist to join a small team on a diamond drilling program in remote WA. The contract is expected to run from mid-November through to late December, with the possibility of further work as the program progresses.

The focus of the role is rig management. You'll work closely with the drilling crew, monitor progress, make decisions around hole continuation and drilling approach, and help keep the program running safely and efficiently. Core processing requirements are straightforward, with support from experienced field assistants on site.

You'll also be working alongside a junior geologist who has recently joined the team. They're keen to learn and already finding their feet, so this role would suit someone happy to share their knowledge while remaining hands-on with the drilling program.

Working on a 2/1 roster, FIFO from Perth into Kalgoorlie, followed by a 7-hour drive to site. This is a remote project with basic camp facilities. Accommodation is currently tent and swag-based, so we're looking for someone comfortable working in bush conditions and accustomed to the realities of exploration fieldwork.

We're keen to hear from geologists with:

• 5+ years' exploration geology experience
• Previous diamond drilling and rig management experience
• Strong communication and contractor management skills
• The ability to make practical decisions in the field
• Experience working independently in remote environments
• A current Australian driver's licence.

This role would suit someone who enjoys being out in the field, working closely with the drill crew and taking ownership of day-to-day drilling activities within a small exploration team.

Unfortunately, MPI are only able to consider people with appropriate and relevant experience, and who are either Australian Permanent Residents or have the necessary permits to work in Australia and whom are currently in Australia.
